Quick Low-Calorie Poached Chicken Breast
- ½ lb boneless skinless chicken breast
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- fresh ground black pepper
- salt
This recipe is extremely low in calories and can be made in just a few minutes. Great for a quick low-calorie lunch.
Slice the chicken breast into ½" thick slices.
Fill the bottom of a small pan with about ¼" of water. Add a dash of salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder and mix. Bring the mixture to a boil and then immediately turn down the heat to a simmer.
To poach the chicken, add the chicken slices to the pan and bring to a simmer once again. After about 1 minute turn over the chicken slices and poach the other side until the center of each slice is slightly pink. You can check the interior color by cutting one of the slices with a knife. Do not poach too long or the chicken will become dry.
Remove the chicken slices from the water and serve.
NOTE: If you like the chicken more heavily spiced, reduce the water and spice mixture until it begins to get thick. Then toss the poached chicken slices in the reduced mixture and serve.
