Melanie’s Pear Crisp
Filling:
- 4 to 5 whole large pears*
- ⅔ cup sugar
- ¼ tsp salt
Topping:
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup sugar
- ⅓ cup brown sugar, firmly-packed
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ½ cup pecans, very finely-chopped
- 1 stick butter, melted
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Peel, core, and dice pears. Place into a bowl and stir together with ⅔ cup sugar and ¼ tsp salt. Set aside.
In a separate bowl for the topping, combine the flour, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and pecans. Stir together with a fork while gradually drizzling with melted butter until completely combined.
Pour pears into a baking dish and top with the topping. Bake at 350ºF for 30 minutes. Place pan on top rack of oven for an additional 10 minutes or until topping is golden brown.
*Note: Bosc pears work well.
